Provision of improved livestock breeds to adjacent forests community members in western Uganda is one of JGI in Uganda’s strategies used to decrease communities’ reliance on natural forest resources for survival. Therefore with assistance from WYSS foundation, JGI in Uganda has supplied a total of 94 livestock including boar goats to 94 Kasongoire village members (Village adjacent to Budongo Forest) in Masindi district. The improved livestock breeds are not only to act as an income source but also to improve on the quality of the existing local animal stock of the community members.
In addition to the livestock, the beneficiaries were also provided with the technical guidance and extension services on how to handle these animals.
