Please join us in welcoming Stany Nyandwi our new  Education Assistant who is now working under the Environmental Education and Roots & Shoots program undertaking extension services at our field sites with focus on Human Wildlife Conflict in communities and schools in Western Uganda.

Stany comes from Burundi and has over 30 years experience working with chimpanzees both in captive and wild as well as other wildlife for various wildlife conservation Organizations such as the Entebbe Zoo in Uganda, Chimp Trust/Ngamba Island Sanctuary in Uganda, Chimpanzee Sanctuary Sweet waters in Kenya, Chester Zoo in UK, German Zoo Institute in German, Taronga Zoo in Australia, Chimp Haven in USA, Disney World in USA and many others.

At JGI Uganda, his key responsibilities include; carrying out school and community sensitization about human-wildlife coexistence, conducting Chimpanzee behavior education and outreach in schools and communities and conducting pre and post evaluation of the knowledge, attitude and consequent behavior toward chimpanzee conservation and their habitat, assisting in documenting success stories regarding human-chimp coexistence in the Budongo-Bugoma Corridor, assisting in developing Chimpanzee education and awareness materials for schools and communities and engaging school children and community members in practical environmental conservation activities such as tree nursery bed preparation, seedling raising, tree planting, hygiene and sanitation activities among others.
