Our Forest Education Centers
In Uganda JGI is running four(4)Forest Education Centers in Hoima district, Bugoma and Wambabya forests (Kigaaga Forest Education Center), Bushenyi district, Kalinzu and Kashyoha-Kitomi forests (Kalinzu Forest Education Center) and Masindi district, Budongo forest (Busingiro & Kanyo Pabidi Forest Education Centers).
The purpose of the Forest Education Centers is to provide Environmental Education facilities that Teachers, Pupils and neighboring community members can visit to learn more about the forest environment, its importance and what people can do to help protect it. Half-day EE programs are developed to be delivered from the centers. The center staff are trained to deliver the programme and the center is equipped with the necessary resources required for the programme. The half-day EE programme consists of a short forest walk and a number of activities inside and outside the education center.
